OK} that the majority thinks lying
should go unpunished. I have strove to be honLies, dammed lies, statistics and then there
are white lies.
I find this to be very interesting.
Mary Batten "We may teach our children that honesty is the best policy, but
natural selection favors the skillful lie." I think she said it, if not I will take
the
credit, since, well, it should be obvious.
That is one of the more scary things I have come to believe, and I have come to believe
honesty is a principle to attempt to live by, it is by no means a trait for success. So
what is the flipping point. I dont know, Im wondering.
Many of my first memories deal with issues of good and bad stuff. The kinds of
things that stay with a person. I want to believe most children, everywhere are taught
from an early age, to share, be honest the whole bit. And Im comfortable saying,
guilt is used to achieve these teachings, shame on you for lying. We have all been
there.
Through the years I have come to realize, at a young age we are taught
unilaterally to be honest. As life becomes more real as we go through the teen years we
start making alliances and our truths become something to be used for our friends and
family. Still its shame, shame, unless its your crowd. So by the time we become
adults our sense of honesty is skewed with all kinds of stuff, what a shame.
Personally I think a lot of it comes from the prulecedural kind. Those good folks
who have to have it written down, exactly what is acceptable. Here we are in the
middle of an impeachment, because the man lied. and the majority, the majority,
the majority, thinks he shouldnt be punished, because of the degree and type of the
lie.
Well its a fine frigging time to learn, {Im slowest, havent always succeeded,
but
its been my goal. Just how the heck is it supposed to work if all we get is a censure,
big whoop. There have been more time than I like to remember where a possible
censure would have been preferable to having to own up.
A liar is like a thief. I would rather be around a person who only lies about
small things and only takes insignificant things. But you can never trust them and they
will take everyone down with them.
I believe there is a difference in the weight of bad things. We are all guilty, some of us
just wont admit it, liars dont.
For the rest of you out there that think that honesty should be and is the best
policy. I bet you came to that belief the way I did, by getting caught in lies.
Think about that the next time you call me a liar.newpage19.htm
